We have finally gotten our computer up and running here in DC. Things around here are slowly shaping up. Our home is starting to look like a home and not a staging area for a massive cardboard box recycling effort. Paint is being applied, pictures are being hung and life goes on.
This morning I was locked in the garage in my nightgown for 20 minutes. The girls were upstairs playing and one of them heard knocking but didn't come down to find out what it was. Youngest came downstairs to get a drink and heard me knocking. Oy!
What can I say about DC? It is busy. It has atrocious traffic. There are a zillion things to see and do here. I haven't been here long enough to make more of a judgement than that. I think we'll end up liking it in the long run but right now it doesn't feel like home yet.
I'll be taking pictures soon to share with y'all. For now, a verbal description will have to suffice. We have a two-story townhouse that is part of an 8-plex. We are on the end on the corner of our street. From the front door you can see our neighbors (very sweet family who, unfortunately, may be moving by January). From our back door you can see a single row of houses, the Potomac River and Reagan National Airport. If you walk the block to the river and look to your right, you can see the Washington monument in the distance.
So far, the weather here has been very nice. Hot, I suppose, but not humid yet. I'm used to having 90's with very high humidity. It's been in the 80's for the most part during the day with low humidity so I haven't felt as hot. Also, there is almost always a breeze here which tends to make me feel less hot.
Steven's group (office, if you will) is hosting a family day at Six Flags in Maryland (I think) on the 30th. Tickets were $5 per person! This Six Flags has a water park! So, if the girls won't ride things or can't ride things, I can take them to the water park. I can't ride all that crazy stuff anymore because of my back. Just walking all day is going to be miserable. So, I'll definately enjoy soaking up the sun while playing with the girls in the water.
Hope to hear from y'all soon! Lots of love!!
